En el videoclip, Perry decide cortarse el cabello y asumir una actitud ruda. Se puede ver a la intérprete de «Hot N Cold» entrenando en los campos militares, nadando y peleando con otras compañeras reclutas.»Part of me» es el sencillo promocional de la reedición del disco Teenage dream, que mantuvo a la sensual cantante en las listas de popularidad durante todo el 2011.

Katy Perry has traded her whipped cream-spewing brassiere for military-issue combat fatigues for her new video.

The 27-year-old singer debuted the video for her newest single, «Part of Me,» Wednesday night on MTV. In the 4-minute, 10-second clip Perry plays a woman who ditches her cheating boyfriend and runs off to join the Marines.

«This song feels like one of the most aggressive songs I’ve ever put out,» Perry told MTV News. «It’s kind of like an affirmation of strength, so I wanted to go the strongest route I possibly could, so I had this idea — what if I joined the service.»

She said she endured an intense three-day boot camp where she learned how to flip an attacker, wrestle underwater and properly eat a military MRE (Meals Ready to Eat).

Perry also was looking for a few good men – to co-star. The video features real Marines in supporting roles, rather than actors.

There has been much speculation that the song is a dig at Perry’s ex-husband, Russell Brand. «Now look at me, I’m sparkling/A firework, a dancing flame/You won’t ever put me out again,» is a typical lyric from the foot-stomping tune.
