La tarde de ayer en las redes sociales se difundió una campaña en la que se le pedía a las chicas cortarse alguna parte del cuerpo, para que Justin Bieber dejara de fumar marihuana, así lo reportó Reforma.

El periódico señaló que dicho movimiento se convirtió en ‘trending topic’ con los ‘hashtags’ #CuttingForBieber (Cortándose por Bieber), #CutForBieber y #cut4bieber (Cortarse por Bieber).

Y aunque en un principio se dijo que las seguidoras del joven habían sido las encargadas de difundir el movimiento, más tarde se supo según los sitios de música Complex y New Media Rockstars, que uno de los foros del sitio 4Chan lo creó a modo de broma.

En Twitter circularon imágenes de brazos y muñecas con heridas superficiales, así como fotografías en tono de burla donde se mostraban partes del cuerpo con salsa catsup.

Miley Cyrus pidió a las adolescentes que no se hicieran daño: «¿#cutforbieber? Cortarse no es una broma. Hay gente que realmente está sufriendo y por ellos mismos. Esto es muy irrespetuoso», externó @OfficialCANCER, lo cual retuiteó la ex Hannah Montana.

Entre los usuarios de Twitter, siempre irreverentes, también hubo quiénes aprovecharon la situación para burlarse de los ‘hashtags’.

We guess you could call our reaction to the pictures of Justin Bieber apparently smoking a joint extreme. If you call letting out a ‘tsk’ sound that our mother would be proud of and furiously shaking our head extreme. But the online reaction has been so EXTREME, we had to capitalise it.

Prompted by users of website 4chan, Beliebers were encouraged to take to Twitter and post pictures of themselves self-harming with the hashtag ‘CutForBieber’, to demonstrate how upset they were about the pictures.

The campaign was started by some terrible internet trolls on 4chan, a site that hosts a number of bulletin boards where members can post pretty much anything they like.

On a board that has now been removed, one user wrote: ‘Lets start a cut yourself for Bieber campaign. Tweet a bunch of pics of people cutting themselves and claim we did it because Bieber was smoking weed.’

Whilst some Twitter users found the #CutForBieber hashtag amusing, it made others more than a little angry. The most high profile tweeter to react to the sick campaign was Miley Cyrus, who retweeted: ‘#cutforbieber? Cutting is NOT something to joke about. There are people who are actually suffering from self-harm, this is so disrespectful.’

Following the publication of the controversial images, Justin himself took to Twitter to write a series of emotional tweets, with the singer revealing that he was ‘growing’, ‘learning’ and didn’t want to ‘let any of you down’.

He said: ‘Everyday growing and learning. Trying to be better. U get knocked down, u get up.

‘I see all of u. I hear all of u. I never want to let any of you down. I love u.’ Justin continued: ‘Like i said…2013…new challenges. new doubters… I’m ready. We are ready. see u all tomorrow and everyday after that.’
