El margen de 140 caracteres hace volar el ingenio y la creatividad de los tuiteros, por lo que la plataforma social está organizando su primer evento literario, Twitter Fiction Festival, una iniciativa que algunas editoriales ya pusieron en marcha bajo la modalidad de concursos.

Los cuentos (hiper)cortos se compartirán virtualmente en Internet durante cinco días, según anunció la compañía a través de su blog oficial. “Twitter es un lugar para contar historias”, señalan los organizadores con total razón.

Los tweets participantes tendrán que ser acompañados de la etiqueta #TwitterFiction. Ese será el mismo topic para que los usuarios encuentren las breves narraciones. Además, la red social invita a los interesados a registrar su idea en un Google Docs especial.

“Anunciaremos a los ganadores el lunes 19 de noviembre, mientras que el festival se realizará a partir del 28 de noviembre”, precisó el integrante de contenidos editoriales Andrew Fitzgerald en la página.

Twitter announced that the first ever Twitter Fiction Festival is to be held at the end of November. Twitter’s blog told creative tweeps worldwide that the event — which is billed as a “virtual storytelling celebration” — will span five days and will feature “creative experiments in storytelling from around the globe.”

Page Views has already championed Twitter as an up-and-coming literary form and it’s clear that the site itself agrees: “We believe Twitter is a wide open frontier for experimentation in creative storytelling,” read a statement issued by the site today, “with the ultimate creative canvas, a global audience of hundreds of millions, and a real-time broadcasting platform, Twitter gives storytellers an unprecedented laboratory in which to play.”

Pieces will even have to make use of a revolutionary real-time global platform, “where anybody can contribute to your story at any moment,” and will have to function within the festival’s five day timeframe. The selected authors and the festival’s agenda will be announced on Monday, Nov.19th, ahead of the festival’s opening on Nov. 28th
