En este proyecto se encuentran trabajando m\u00e1s de 40 ingenieros y cient\u00edficos. El ni\u00f1o robot funcionar\u00e1 en base a tendones mec\u00e1nicos, que imitar\u00e1n los m\u00fasculos humanos, para hacer que sus movimientos sean m\u00e1s naturales.<\/p>\n

Por el momento, se han abierto donaciones para que siga este proyecto en pie, que van desde $26 a $55,000 d\u00f3lares. Con su aportaci\u00f3n, el donador puede asegurar que su nombre est\u00e9 grabado en el cuerpo de este artefacto mec\u00e1nico.<\/p>\n

Los miembros que est\u00e1n fabricando al Ni\u00f1o Robot mencionan que en caso de que el proyecto tenga \u00e9xito, planean promocionarlo como un auxiliar para personas mayores, discapacitados y para personas que busquen ayuda para labores dom\u00e9sticas.<\/p>\n

Incluso se ha discutido la posibilidad de cubrir el cuerpo de Roboy con una especie de piel para hacer de su apariencia un tanto m\u00e1s amigable y \u2018humana\u2019, a diferencia de la apariencia que ha mostrado el prototipo mostrado en el v\u00eddeo y en la imagen superior.<\/p>\n

But Roboy is hoping to take the mass appeal of robots to the next level, as it’s said to be \u00abone of the most advanced humanoid robots\u201d according to researchers at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the University of Zurich.<\/p>\n

15 project partners and over 40 engineers have teamed together to build an initiative to create Roboy, which needs some $500,000 to happen. To date, they’ve received nearly $300,000. It’ll reportedly be a tendon-driven robot that is highly modeled on humans, with the goal being to create a robot that can move \u00abalmost as elegantly as a human.\u00bb It won’t just be for fun, either. Instead, it’ll be designed as a service robot that can help other humans in a multitude of ways. If all goes well, a model of Roboy will be unveiled at the Robots On Tour event this coming March.<\/p>\n

It’s also one of the very first high-profile robot builds to be crowdfunded. It’s unclear is this model will work out, but if so, it could easily boost the interest in advanced robotics. While grants are tougher to get and science is being pushed on the backburner while more pressing issues take precedence, opening up robotic research via crowdfunding could kickstart things in a major way.<\/p>\n
