Un estudio, realizado por cient\u00edficos del departamento de la Universidad de Granada, Espa\u00f1a, revel\u00f3 que cuando una persona miente se produce el denominado \u00abefecto Pinocho\u00bb: la temperatura de la punta de la nariz aumenta o disminuye.<\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n existe un efecto cerebral. \u00abLa \u00ednsula, que es un \u00e1rea cerebral vinculada a nuestro ‘yo’ m\u00e1s aut\u00e9ntico, se activa cuando estamos hablando de manera cierta sobre nuestros sentimientos\u00bb, explican los expertos. Sin embargo, cuando no hay sentimientos reales, \u00e9sta no se activa. \u00abA m\u00e1s actividad de la \u00ednsula (a mayor sentimiento visceral), menor cambio t\u00e9rmico se produce, y viceversa\u00bb, indica el estudio. <\/p>\n

Para llegar a esa conclusi\u00f3n, los expertos Emilio G\u00f3mez Mil\u00e1n y Elvira Salazar L\u00f3pez aplicaron la termograf\u00eda -una t\u00e9cnica para detectar la temperatura de los cuerpos- al \u00e1mbito de la psicolog\u00eda, obteniendo resultados novedosos. <\/p>\n

Los investigadores descubrieron que cuando los humanos realizan un gran esfuerzo mental, la temperatura de la nariz desciende. En cambio, cuando se sufre un ataque de ansiedad, se produce una subida general de la temperatura facial.<\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n detectaron que al mentir aumenta la temperatura corporal en la zona del m\u00fasculo orbital, situado en la esquina interna del ojo. Los hallazgos \u00abnos permiten conocer un poco mejor c\u00f3mo somos y c\u00f3mo son las emociones complejas\u00bb, indic\u00f3 Elvira Salazar.<\/p>\n

‘Pinocchio effect’: Lying sends nose-tip temperature soaring, but size unchanged: scientists<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lie may not make your nose grow like Pinocchio but it does send its temperature soaring, according to Spanish scientists.<\/p>\n

A rise in anxiety will see the tip of the nose heat up – while making a ‘great mental effort’ will help in cooling it down – says the University of Granada’s Emilio G\u00f3mez Mil\u00e1n and Elvira Salazar L\u00f3pez. They have dubbed the newly-found phenomenon, discovered by using thermal imaging cameras on volunteers, ‘The Pinocchio Effect’.<\/p>\n

It is an homage to Italian writer Carlo Collodi’s 19th century literary wooden character whose nose grew when he came under stress – especially when he failed to tell the truth.<\/p>\n

The pair’s doctoral thesis research, released yesterday, indicated the temperature of the nose increases or decreases according to mood, as does the orbital muscle area in the inner corner of the eyes. They claimed that thermal imaging can detect sexual desire and arousal in both men and women, evident by an increase in temperature in the chest and genital areas.<\/p>\n

And their work also demonstrated that, at a physiological level at least, men and women become aroused at the same time, although women subjectively indicate that they are not. They made their conclusions after finding that, when people lie about their feelings, the brain’s insular cortex is altered.<\/p>\n

The scientists’ statement said: ‘The insular cortex is involved in the detection and regulation of body temperature, so there is a large negative correlation between the activity of this structure and the magnitude of the temperature change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
