Houston had intended \u201cSparkle,\u201d a remake of the 1976 film, as a comeback vehicle, after her career had been stalled by drug problems. But Houston never got the chance to see the fruit of her labor: the singer accidentally drowned in a hotel room bathtub on the night before the Grammy Awards. A coroner determined cocaine use and heart disease contributed to her death.<\/p>\n
