La cadena de televisi\u00f3n CNN report\u00f3 que aunque el sepelio fue privado, decenas de fan\u00e1ticos de la cantante se apostaron a las puertas del cementerio para observar la llegada de la carroza con su cuerpo.<\/p>\n
Los fan\u00e1ticos, que atestiguaron el \u00e9xito de Whitney, recordaron que el \u00faltimo tema que cant\u00f3 en p\u00fablico fue \u00abJesus Loves Me\u00bb (Jes\u00fas me ama), antes de su muerte el pasado 11 de febrero en Beverly Hills, California, a los 48 a\u00f1os de edad.<\/p>\n

Las causas de su muerte a\u00fan no han sido determinadas por las autoridades forenses.<\/p>\n
Con el sepelio culmina la ceremonia luctuosa, \u201cDe regreso a Casa\u201d, una tradici\u00f3n en la comunidad bautista afroamericana que incluy\u00f3 el servicio religioso de la v\u00edspera en el templo en cuyo coro se inici\u00f3 en el canto y que fue seguido por millones de televidentes en Estados Unidos y otros pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n
Fiel a la tradici\u00f3n, la familia rechaz\u00f3 efectuar la ceremonia de despedida en alguna arena u otra instalaci\u00f3n que no fuera una iglesia.<\/p>\n

A golden hearse carried the pop star to suburban Westfield, where she was to be buried next to her father, John Russell Houston, who died in 2003.<\/p>\n
Fans and onlookers lined the route as the motorcade entered the grounds of Fairview Cemetery for a strictly private ceremony for Houston, who was found dead eight days ago in her Los Angeles hotel room, aged 48.<\/p>\n
On Saturday Hollywood stars, music greats and loved ones had gathered for an emotional farewell ceremony in the Newark baptist church where she sang as a child, which was watched worldwide.<\/p>\n
The nearly four-hour service Saturday ended with pallbearers carrying the pop diva’s coffin out of the church as a recording of Houston singing her signature hit, \u00abI Will Always Love You,\u00bb was played.<\/p>\n
The recording was from the soundtrack of the 1992 box office smash film \u00abThe Bodyguard,\u00bb in which she co-starred with Kevin Costner, one of several who paid tribute to Houston in remarks at the funeral.<\/p>\n
\u00abI urge us all inside and outside, across the nation and around the world, to dry our tears, suspend our sorrow and perhaps our anger just long enough, just long enough to remember the sweet miracle of Whitney,\u00bb the actor said.<\/p>\n
Although Houston’s musical success took her away from New Jersey across the world, countless friends and relatives told Saturday of how she never lost sight of Newark and the community that shaped her.<\/p>\n
Clive Davis, the legendary producer who became Houston’s mentor, told the service he was spellbound when he first met her in 1983.<\/p>\n
\u00abYou wait for a voice like that for a lifetime. You wait for a face like that, a smile like that, a presence like that, for a lifetime. And when one person embodies it all, well, it takes your breath away,\u00bb Davis said.<\/p>\n
Costner, in a frank recollection of his time spent with Houston, recalled how the singer almost missed out on her role in \u00abThe Bodyguard,\u00bb on account of her skin color and lack of acting experience.<\/p>\n
\u00abI told everyone that I had taken notice that Whitney was black. The only problem was I thought she was perfect for what we were trying to do,\u00bb he said, crediting Warner Brothers for agreeing. The movie became a international hit.<\/p>\n
Fans were respectfully asked to stay away from the New Hope Baptist Church on Saturday, which had a capacity of 1,500, but several hundred turned up regardless.<\/p>\n
