Hace una semana que la pareja solicitó reservar el nombre de su bebé como marca registrada para una futura línea de carreolas, bolsas, ropa y cualquier otra parafernalia dirigida a los niños, según The Washington Post. De esta forma se aseguran la marca Ivy Blue Carter antes de que se les vaya de las manos.

La pareja tomó esta decisión porque les llueven las peticiones de comercializar el nombre de la menor. El diseñador Joseph Mbeh solicitó patentar el nombre Blue Ivy Carter NYC el pasado 11 de enero, solo cuatro días después de que la niña naciera. Mbeh planeaba lanzar una línea de ropa para niños. Pero su solicitud fue rechazada por los federales debido a que una solicitud de marca que incluye el nombre de una persona debe incluir el consentimiento por escrito de esa persona, o en este caso, de sus tutores. Y obviamente el diseñador neoyorkino no contaba con el consentimiento de los cantantes.

Otra solicitud, para comercializar el nombre “Blue Ivy Carter Glory IV” para una línea de perfumes, fue también rechazada por los mismos motivos.

Jay-Z & Beyonce want to trademark their baby’s name

If Jay-Z and Beyoncé have their way, the signifier “Blue Ivy Carter” won’t just refer to a beautiful, bouncing bairn, but to a lucrative brand name.

The Washington Post reports that the couple last week submitted an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to draw an impregnable legal wall around Blue Ivy.

The singers and media moguls cite their intention to use the name for a line “of baby carriages, baby cosmetics, diaper bags and other undoubtedly fabulous accoutrements for the fashion-forward infant,” says the Post.

Two weeks before Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s filing, Fashion designer Joseph Mbeh, filed to trademark “Blue Ivy Carter NYC.” Another application sough to reserve the name “Blue Ivy Carter Glory IV” for a line of perfumes.

Both applications were denied by the trademark office which said since the name belonged to a “very famous infant,” consumers would think products bearing the name were approved by her parents.

The Post says Mbeh beat a hasty retreat, releasing a statement that said he didn’t want the name for himself, but planned to talk with Blue Ivy’s parents about the possibility of collaborating with them for a collection of Blue Ivy fashions.

The application is pending, but is being fast-tracked says the Post which opines whether Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s palsy relationship with a certain White House occupant may have greased the wheels.

Regardless, it will most likely be approved since parents have the legal right to trademark names of their minor children.

John Goodman is the 48-year-old heir to an air-conditioning fortune from his father that pioneered new duct-work and turned the company into a billion dollar air-conditioning manufacturer. The polo enthusiast and father of two children from a former wife has been in a three-year relationship with 42-year-old girlfriend, Heather Hutchins.
In 1991, Goodman created a trust for his children that started with $1.5 million. He has grown that trust to be worth more than $100 million. Clauses that are in the conditions of the trust stipulates that the fund cannot be taken from until the beneficiary is 35. Both of Goodman’s biological children are currently teenagers.

Scott Wilson, 23, was on his way home on February 12, 2010, to spend Saturday with his sister for her birthday. He had traveled from his Orlando apartment to Wellington and was on the last leg of his journey when, at 1a.m. Friday morning, his car was struck by Goodman’s Bentley speeding through a stop sign. The crash flipped Wilson’s car into a roadside canal. Goodman fled the scene on foot, leaving Wilson’s submerged car in the canal. Scott Wilson died from drowning.

Scott’s parents filed a wrongful death suit against Goodman that is scheduled for late this March. Goodman will also be on trial by the state for vehicular homicide under the claim that Goodman’s blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit. This will also take place in March. Other charges include driving under the influence manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident, which could incur 30 years in prison.
In October of 2011, Goodman privately adopted his girlfriend of three years and only six years his junior as his daughter. Heather Hutchins in now legally his daughter. This entitles Hutchins to one-third of the children’s trust now because she exceeds 35 years old.

On Feb. 2, Goodman’s attorney issued a statement clarifying the reason for the highly unusual action. According to attorney Daniel Bachi, this was a move made to insure the security of his children’s trust after he had given management of the fortune to Bessemer Trust Company. Apparent mismanagement of the trust had led to the level of “intangible value to the children.” The adoption of Hutchins included contract responsibility of Hutchins to grow and preserve the trust for his biological children.

According to a recent joint study from the University of Michigan and Albright College, people are more likely to fall asleep after getting busy if their partner is craving more affection and a stronger bond with them.

To get the results, scientists polled 456 people on who falls asleep after sex and who crashes first when you go to bed and don’t have sex. People whose partners passed out right after sex had stronger desires to cuddle and chat after the deed than those whose partners didn’t fall asleep after sex. Of course, this could be because they’re craving a good snuggle-fest since their guy never does it, but the study didn’t look into this.

Researchers say the reaction is subconscious and essentially a way to avoid talking about feelings. So basically, if your guy passes out afterwards, he’s not interested in chatting about the state of your relationship…or he’s just tired and feels comfortable enough around you to pass out when he feels like it.

Another interesting tidbit: Scientists found that women were more likely to fall asleep first when they didn’t have sex. Their guess as to why? Men could stay awake longer because they’re hoping to entice you into a little pre-sleep nooky.

La conclusión del estudio es que la réplica de Madrid fue realizada por una alumno de la escuela de Leonardo a la vez que el artista italiano culminaba en el siglo XVI una de sus obras maestras, según informó el Prado.El estado de conservación de la Gioconda del Prado es mucho mejor que el de la original.

Según los expertos, este cuadro gemelo permitiría estudiar mejor la tela de Leonardo y contribuir a descifrar algunos de los famosos misterios que aún la envuelven.

Sensational find in Madrid’s Prado museum rewrites the history of art

The Mona Lisa at the Prado in Madrid was thought to be just
another fine copy, with added eyebrows and an odd black background.

But curators at Spain’s national art museum yesterday announced a
startling discovery: the painting was actually executed by an artist in Leonardo da Vinci’s workshop at the same time as the
original.

It is the first known copy of the most famous painting in history, and a discovery that curators believe sheds new light on the creation of the masterpiece.

Deputy conservator, Gabriele Finaldi, said: “It’s as if we were standing in the workshop itself, and at the next easel. You can see that the artist was working step by step with Leonardo. When Leonardo made a change, he made a change.”

The copy sits in a dimly-lit room awaiting the finishing touches of a two-year restoration, during which its true origin was revealed. Curators decided it needed a face lift because it was going on loan to the Louvre in March. Following X-ray and infrared studies, they were surprised to find a landscape hidden beneath the dark paint behind the subject.

Elton John advises Madonna to ‘lip-synch good’ during her Super Bowl show

During an appearance on America TV earlier, Elton was asked what advice he had for Madonna ahead of her half time performance at Sunday’s Super Bowl. At this point, a mischievous Elton saw his opportunity for revenge and he took it.

Elton then went on to imply that Madonna’s Super Bowel show will be rubbish, saying: “I’ve never seen a decent one. Never ever.You have to play live, but I don’t think you can. In all fairness to everyone who’s done one before, you may be able to sing live, but it’s really hard to play live.”

Elton’s catty comments are sure to make Madonna feel a tad under pressure, with the singer rehearsing solidly for the last two weeks. It’s thought that she will sing four songs, including Vogue and Give Me All Your Luvin (spelt that way to make sure everyone still think she’s cool), while bendy types from Cirque du Soleil prance about in the background.

Although Madonna is yet to snipe back at Elton, the Brit has been on her back since she beat him to Best Original Song at the Golden Globes two weeks ago. Speaking before the event on the red carpet, Elton was offended that Madge had even made it into the category, telling reporters she had no “f***ing chance of winning” over him.

And after she did win, Elton’s husband David Furnish wrote on Facebook: “Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism.”
